I think he was asking ar15barrels what he thought of the PMC brass... for blueprinting then handloading known propellants under good projectiles.


remusrm, be glad you have practice ammo. You can become familiar with the gun, then when better cartridges present themselves you can go from there.

Will do... I do plan on saving it and reloading in the future. I am bare on things right now since made a change on what I want and keep.

700 receivers made after about 2006 are the best ones made in that they are straighter and squarer than the older ones.

The newer ones are not polished or deburred as nice as the old ones but they are more dimensionally consistent than the older ones.
The older ones have nicer polishing and bluing and are not as square or dimensionally consistent as the newer ones.

Agreed. You can make rounds with PMC brass that will shoot very well in a .308. Ruger Americans do shoot well, too. The OP got a good gun.

Don't start in at max load with PMC brass.

The stuff I picked up (few hundred pieces) weighs more than any Lake City military brass I've got (which is considered to be heavier/lower capacity than most.) Never checked the PMC for capacity, but I would assume it's even more on the low side, which will cause higher than normal pressures.

Look for some federal gold metal match 168 gr if you want tight groups or roll your own
